Just when you thought it couldn’t get any hotter, Hot Rocks rolls in

(Rockwall) Make plans to ride in the Rockwall Rotary Club’s 25th annual Hot Rocks Bicycle Race and Ride on Saturday, Aug. 13.

Children, families, beginners and avid cyclists are expected to participate in the event that includes 13.5, 43 and 57 mile courses.

The race will start and finish at 1201 TL Townsend Drive in Rockwall, at Wilkerson Sanders Memorial Field. Volunteers will provide rest stops every 8 to 10 miles, offering drinks, ice and fit.

Entrants will receive a Hot Rocks T-shirt and lunch. Cash awards will go to the top three male and femal finishers of the 57-mile ride: first place, $250; second place, $250; third place, $100.

Registration and check-in begins at 6 a.m. on race day. Start time is 7:30 a.m. Packets may be picked up after noon on Friday before the race at Rockwall Cycling, 832 Steger Towne Road in Rockwall.

Proceeds from the ride benefit Rotary college scholarships.
