Reading For Adults changes the world, one word at a time…(Rockwall) Registration is underway throughout August for the Rockwall County Library Reading For Adult program. With an anticipated student body of nearly 300 adults, the RFA is planning for another exciting year of community education.

The Rockwall County Library RFA program provides free educational support in four areas to the community. Based in the Rockwall County Library, the RFA program has about 285 adult students from 35 countries, and 75 local volunteer tutors. Serving Rockwall County for more than ten years, the RFA program offers free classes including:

  • ESL (English as a Second Language)
  • GED Studies and Preparation
  • U. S. Citizenship Preparation
  • Adult Literacy Studies

The Rockwall County RFA offers classes throughout the year, following the Rockwall ISD calendar – plus summer conversation and GED classes. The summer classes (June 6 through July 20, 2011) had 197 adults in the ESL Conversation and GED classes. Class schedules include morning and evening classes for GED, ESL, Citizenship and literacy students.

Registration for GED studies should be done this month and students will need to come to the RFA Literacy Center for testing.

ESL classes registration and evaluation should be done prior to Saturday, Aug. 20 to insure placement in an appropriate language class. Adults interested in the Citizenship classes should also register before Aug. 20.

The Rockwall County Library is located at 1215 Yellowjacket Lane.
