‘Shop Rowlett Now’ offers discounts for buying local

(Rowlett) The Rowlett Chamber of Commerce recently rolled out its 2011-12 “Shop Rowlett Now” program, which offers consumers special discounts at retail stores, restaurants and other businesses in Rowlett.

The 2011-12 “Shop Rowlett Now” discounts began Sept. 1. Pick up a discount card for $10 at the Rowlett Chamber office, located at 3910 Main St.

In addition to the businesses listed directly on the card, other businesses offering special discounts are also listed at shoprowlettnow.com. Participating businesses include Arbonne International, Computer Network Services, Covington’s Nursery, Dos Chavos Tex-Mex Bar & Grill, Dry Clean USA, Elite Pro Service Lawn Care, Exterior Concepts Remodeling, First Step Chiropractic, Flat Rate Printing & Promotions, Four Paws Animal Hospital, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, Glamour Nails & Spa, Jason’s Deli, Jordan’s Care Care Center, Kyoto Japanese Steak House, Lakeview Power Equipment, Mail+, Parkway Car Care, Paychoice, Pretty Pup & More, Sammy Walker’s Bar-B-Que, Sonic Drive-In, The Cleaner Image, The Ryan Insurance Agency, The Track Grill and Bar, among several others.

Note from the Chamber: *This year the cards cost $10.00 each and nonprofits can keep half of the proceeds for the cards they sell (same as last year). When a nonprofit picks up cards they will have to sign a commitment form to guarantee either the return of the unsold cards or the money.  If the cards or funds are not returned, the Chamber will invoice the organization for the balance owed.
