Chocolate and art event in Grapevine benefits Travelers Aid Dallas/Fort Worth

More than 20 premier chocolate makers from across the Dallas/Fort Worth area will be on hand at the 8th Annual ChocolateFest March 9-10 in Grapevine.ChocolateFest

This annual fundraiser benefits Travelers Aid Dallas/Fort Worth, an organization that has been dedicated to assisting distressed passengers at D/FW International Airport since 1974.

ChcolateFest GrapevineThis year’s ChocolateFest begins on Friday, March 9 with An Evening of Chocolate and Wine. From 7– 10 p.m., guests can sample delicious chocolates, premium wines and delicious hors d’oeuvres. Held at La Buena Vida Vineyards, 416 E. College St. in Grapevine, tickets are $50 per person and advance purchase is required. Guests must be 21 years and older. Admission includes wine and chocolate tastings, live music, souvenir wine glass and participation in a silent auction.

And oompa loompa doom-pa-dee-doo, we’ve got a special treat for you! Also on Friday, March 9, bring the entire family to Palace Theatre, 300 S. Main St., to see the classic favorite Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at 7:30 p.m. Buy a bucket of popcorn to search for the “Golden Ticket!” The lucky winner wins 4 Palace Theatre movie tickets; backstage tour of the Palace Arts Center; Willy Wonka chocolates; a DVD of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory; and 4 tickets to A Day of Chocolate and Art on March 10.

On Saturday, March 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., bring your sweet tooth to A Day of Chocolate and Art. At this family-friendly event, sample chocolate delicacies and peruse beautiful works of art at the Palace Arts Center in Historic Downtown Grapevine, 300 S. Main St. Special children’s activities will also be featured.

Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door: $15 for adults and $5 for children ages seven and under. Live music will be provided and guests can participate in the People’s Choice Contests. Sampling sessions begin every 30 minutes.

About Travelers Aid Dallas/Fort Worth

All proceeds benefit the Travelers Aid at DFW International Airport. The nonprofit organization has assisted distressed passengers at the D/FW International Airport since 1974. The agency was heavily involved in assisting individuals stranded at the airport during the recent ice storm, 9/11, and helped evacuees from Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ike.

Travelers Aid Dallas/Fort Worth also assists families and individuals who are in crisis, transition, or are separated from their normal support systems. The organization provides this assistance through several other programs including: Client Intervention Program, Local Transportation Program, Volunteer Information Program, Lost and Found, and assists clients at the Intermodal Transportation Center in downtown Fort Worth.
