‘You be the tour guide’ photo contest begins March 9

(Frisco) Taking a camera and shooting a picture is an easy deal for most people. What about going further? What about using the pictures to help potential visitors discover what’s unique and fun about Frisco?

The Frisco Convention & Visitors Bureau will be accepting entries online for the 3rd Annual You Be the Tour Guide Photo Contest from students and amateur photographers age 15 or older March 9 through April 20. The most striking color images will be considered for prizes to be awarded during a National Travel & Tourism Week event at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 5 at a TBD location inside Stonebriar Centre.

Here are a few ideas to emphasize:

  • Shopping, entertainment/concerts, festivals, sporting events and attractions such as Main Event, Dave & Busters, Heritage Museum & Village,FriscoAthleticCenter, The Ice at Stonebriar Centre, FieldhouseUSA, etc.
  • Arts & Culture
  • Interesting angles on landmarks, streetscapes, skylines or familiar places
  • Maybe you have a great photo that doesn’t fit the above. We’d like to see it, anyway.

Prizes include:

Grand Prize (Worth $425.00)

(1) Weekend stay at a Frisco hotel (Friday & Saturday night based on availability)
(4) tickets to see the Frisco RoughRiders
(1) one hour free photography lesson from Style Creative Photography

2nd Place Prize (Worth $300.00)

(4) tickets to see FC Dallas
(1) one hour free photography lesson from Style Creative Photography
$50 Randy’s Steakhouse gift certificate

 3rd Place Prize (Worth $260.00)

$50 Stonebriar Centre gift card
(4) tickets to see the Texas Legends NBA D-League Team
(1) one hour free photography lesson from Style Creative Photography

The Frisco ISD high school with the most entries will receive a $500 donation to the photo journalism department from Stonebriar Centre. There will also be one grand prize winner from the FISD high school entries that will be chosen to receive a $250 gift certificate from Stonebriar Centre.

“We’re expecting to get a broad range of photographs reflecting everything that make Frisco special. We want people to be inspired to visit when they see the images,” said CVB executive director Marla Roe.

Shutterbugs interested in or who have already captured the sights, the scenes and the people of Frisco can begin submitting entries online March 9. Contest rules will be posted online at visitfrisco.com on March 1.
