McCarthy named one of the Healthiest Employers in North Texas

(Dallas) April 26, 2012 – McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., a Texas builder for 30 years, was awarded the No. 8 ranking on the Dallas Business Journal’s Healthiest Employers in North Texas list for its strong commitment to creating a healthy workplace. Numerical rankings for each honored company were announced on April 12 at a luncheon and health fair.

“We are honored to be recognized for this award,” said Jeff Wagner, Vice President of Operations and McCarthy’s Texas Division Wellness Champion. “We believe that by taking personal responsibility and making positive lifestyle choices, wellness becomes a positive, day-to-day approach to a long and healthful life.”

The annual Healthiest Employers award program evaluates organizations using six key categories: culture and leadership commitment, foundational components, strategic planning, communication and marketing, programming and interventions and reporting and analysis. With more than 500 employees, McCarthy was selected in the large company category, along with 19 other companies.

McCarthy supports and encourages a healthy lifestyle for all its employees through its Build for Life Rewards Program, a company-wide wellness program designed to enable the entire organization to strive toward optimal mental, physical and emotional well-being. McCarthy focuses on four key areas; awareness, prevention, activity and lifestyle and stress, which combine to offer a comprehensive approach to wellness that serves the needs of the entire organization.

The Texas Division of McCarthy works on many notable projects in DFW, including The Park. The downtown greenspace area on Woodall Rodgers is scheduled for completion at the end of 2012.
