Rockwall-Heath teen vies for Miss Texas title

Crowning Achievement

(Rockwall) June 26, 2013 – Sixteen-year-old Tatianna Valentine could soon be crowned Miss Texas Outstanding Teen 2013. She is competing in the official preliminary to the Miss America Scholarship Pageant, which runs June 28 through July 6 at the Allen Convention Center.

Tatianna currently reigns as Miss Dallas Outstanding Teen, a title she won last November during her sophomore year at Rockwall-Heath High School. To achieve the title, she completed a panel interview, an on-stage question, an evening gown and fitness competition, and sang “His Eye is on the Sparrow” for the talent portion of the contest.

“When they called my name I just started to cry,” Tatianna said. “It was one of the most amazing feelings and one of the happiest days of my life.”

For Tatianna’s mother, Charmain Valentine, seeing her daughter on stage is magical.

“I am so proud of Tatianna. She is one of the most beautiful people I know, inside and out. She has grown and matured so much since winning the title of Miss Dallas Outstanding Teen,” Charmain said.

Throughout her reign, Tatianna has been visiting local schools and talking to parents, children and teachers about her platform, “Get Tone with Tati – Shaping up America’s Youth.” Tatianna is not only a beauty queen, but a high school athlete who plays basketball and volleyball. She is passionate about encouraging others to eat right, exercise and live a healthy lifestyle.

After graduation, Tatianna plans to attend college and obtain a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree.

“I am honored and blessed to be competing in the Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant,” Tatianna said. “This pageant means a lot to me because it is a scholarship organization and will help me accomplish many of my goals. If I win the title of Miss Texas Outstanding Teen I will be able to empower, encourage and teach more parents, caregivers, and children how important it is to make healthier choices. I will also have the opportunity to compete for the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen in Orlando, Florida.”
