Celebrating the Life of Bonnie Jean Eckert

Gathering Saturday, Nov. 23 at daughter’s home

Bonnie Jean Eckert

(November 21, 2013) Bonnie Jean Eckert was born Nov. 1, 1924 to Harry and Agnes Smith in East Liverpool, Ohio.  She died at home on her mother’s birthday, Nov. 19, 2013.  A Celebration Gathering in honor of Bonnie will be held Saturday, Nov. 23 at her daughter’s home, 306 Shore Trail Drive in Rockwall.

Bonnie was a loving, kind, loyal and generous wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.  She very much enjoyed life and family.  Her only wrinkles came from laughing so much.  On numerous shopping trips Bonnie and her daughter were often asked if they always had such a good time – and the answer was yes!

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Dick; infant son Harry Grandon; brothers Alvin Smith and Harry Smith; sister Lois Hasala; and son-in-law Harold Evans.  Bonnie is survived by her daughter Judy Evans; grandson Ben Thurmond (Jennifer); granddaughter Amy Thurmond (Regina); and adored great granddaughter Gillian Thurmond, all of Rockwall.  She is also survived by nieces Ginny Hanlon, Lois Jean Hawkinbery, Nancy Smith and Marilyn Eckert; and nephews Chip Hasala, Al Smith and Fritz Eckert.

Burial will be in East Liverpool, Ohio.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.  If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me.  Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell.  I am hard pressed between the two.  My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.  ~ Philippians 1:21-23.
