ROCKWALL (December 16, 2013) Tickets are expected to go on sale by early February for the much anticipated Rockwall Women’s League Charity Ball 2014, set for April 12 at the Omni Dallas Hotel.

The nonprofit organization is celebrating its 40th anniversary in style, with Club 40: Jazz at the Ruby Room. The evening will include a champagne reception, live and silent auction, dinner and dancing.

The annual gala, which draws more than 500 guests, serves as RWL’s primary fundraiser. Proceeds are awarded via grants to local community service organizations, and in college scholarships to graduates of Rockwall, Rockwall-Heath andRoyseCityhigh schools.

“Our annual ball is successful only because of the outstanding support we receive from the community, and the generosity of the fabulous people who make it all possible,” said Alison Fox, RWL Ball Chairman. “We sincerely thank all of the sponsors who have come on board already.”

Publicity underwriters are Rockwall Auto Direct, Cici’s Pizza, Vicky Chesna Team and SeaTech. Sponsors to date include the Amick Group; Alliance Bank; Willis Fine Jewelry; Rockwall Ford; Young Hyundai of Rockwall; Lakeside Chevrolet; Hatfield and Company; Special Products Manufacturing; Col-Met Spray Booths, Massey Cadillac, Law Office of Kim Timpa, Rockwall Economic Development Corporation, GMA Property Tax Consultants, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Rockwall, The Williams Group, Rod Holland and Associates, Regions Bank, Heart of Texas Healthcare Services, Lake Pointe Photography, Oar House/Culpepper Steakhouse, The Fatted Calf, Heath Salon and Spa, Groovy’s, Bin 303, Zanata, Alliance Bank, Billy and Robin Railsback, Dustin and Lori Smith, Lisa and B.J. Rockwall Women’s League was chartered in 1973, to unite and promote the Rockwall area through service to the community and through the initiation and support of civic, educational and social events.

“At the time, Lake Ray Hubbard had just been filled. You could feel an energy pouring into the community,” said Patsy Hendrickson, founding president. “Five of us got together and agreed we’d each invite 10 women whom we thought would contribute well to the group. Many of us were stay-at-home moms. There was an abundance of women with great talent that was not being harnessed. That’s how RWL was born, and we did it in about six weeks.”

Over the years, the club has grown and diversified. “Since its birth, RWL has given nearly $3 million in scholarships. Members volunteer thousands of hours each year, delivering hot meals to seniors through Meals on Wheels, fitting shoes for underprivileged kids, visiting nursing homes, and helping out at schools and libraries,” said Cathy Bedsole, RWL president.

In addition to the charity ball, RWL raises funds through the sale of their award-winning cookbook.

“Working in an organization like this you find strength and confidence you didn’t know you had,” Hendrickson said. “Helping others creates a kind of energy, and establishes relationships and connections between one another.”
