A ‘Minimony’

“Hello, my name is Mary and I am a faithful believer in Jesus Christ. It is an honor to share with you how my life has been changed due to His love. 20 Years ago my life was a mess; I was a meth addict.

I had convinced myself that no one knew, because I was so good at hiding it. People knew; my family my so called friends, even people passing me on the street knew. Addicts are the best at lying to ourselves.

I became increasingly addicted and increasingly terrified. I was terrified that I would not be able to stop using meth. Meth was the source of my greatest joy, and my worst nightmare combined.

Jeremiah 32:27 “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything to hard for me?”

On a hot August night in 1994, I found myself in an Emergency Room. I was not sure how I had gotten there, or what was going on. I looked up at the faces of my family. Who had called them? How did they find out? A dear friend of my Step-mother’s happened to be on duty as a nurse at that hospital on that very night. She had called to let them know I had been dropped off there, and they needed to come quickly. I look back on that night and I know that God had a hand in all of that.

Psalm 116:3-4; the pains of death surrounded me and the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow. Then I called upon the name of the Lord: “O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!”

My sweet sister leaned over the bed and whispered “Please, you are the only sister I have.” I knew I had two choices, change or die. Statistically speaking I should not be here sharing my story with you. I should be dead or in jail. God heard my heart calling out to Him, and He welcomed be back into His flock.

Matthew 18-11; “For the Son of Man has come to save that which is lost”.

I have given credit to a loving, caring family, however; my Father in Heaven is who I know for a fact saved my life that hot August night. He had pulled me from the fire to use my mess as a message.

We don’t have to do anything to earn his love, or prove our worth to Him, He loves us. He has plans for us. Even in our darkest hour, He understands how that one hour can be used to grow a stronger Christian. The thing is we must be willing to remove our masks, fall on our knees and ask Him to guide us on our path.

There is nothing His love cannot overcome, Thank you for allowing me to share my testimony. Celebrate Recovery is a safe place to celebrate being in recovery and feeling accepted for who I have become. Also, it is a wonderful place to celebrate being a Christian, I grew closer to God in Celebrate Recovery, and I remembered to walk with Him everyday.” ~ “Mary”
