UPDATE (August 5, 2014) LOCATION CHANGE! We just received word that the Conference on Water Solutions described below has been moved to the County Extension Office, 915 Whitmore Ste. B, Rockwall, TX 75087.

ROCKWALL COUNTY,TX. (July 29, 2014) Rockwall County based businesses have partnered with Leadership Advisory Board of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Rockwall County and Rockwall County Master Gardeners to conduct  Save Your Landscape for Better Days – a conference on water solutions.

The conference is set for Saturday, August 9 from 10 am – 1 pm at Liberty Hall in the Rockwall County Courthouse,1111 East Yellowjacket Lane, Rockwall.

The cost is $10 in advance and $15 on the day of the event.

The conference will provide solutions for homeowners to have desirable landscapes while still conserving water, and caring for our environment.

The program promotes behavior-changes that encourage water-efficient practices in the landscape. It encourages residents to understand the water situation and that even with extended rain periods, the population growth and demand for this precious resource may still fall short of the supply.  The program also encourages residents to grow plants that are native or adapted to the north Texas region, schedule a yearly irrigation checkup with a licensed irrigator, and many other easily adopted water-saving practices.

Dr. Dotty Woodson, a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Water Specialist, will be the Keynote speaker.  She will be providing insight on: Recognizing a Healthy Landscape, Water Efficiency, Retrofitting In Place Irrigation Systems for Better Efficiency, and more.

“The main goal of this program is to help residents understand how to conserve water by making simple behavioral changes and still maintain an aesthetically pleasing and desirable landscape”, Todd K. Williams, County Extension Agent for Rockwall County said.

For registration details or more information on the conference go online to rockmga.org or call 972.204.7660
