Sol Villasana to sign ‘Dallas’ Little Mexico’ Sept. 18th

Sol Villasana, Rockwall resident, lawyer, writer, and community advocate, will sign Dallas’  Little Mexico at 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., September 18, 2014, at the Latino Cultural Center, 2600 Live Oak Street, Dallas, Texas.

ROCKWALL,TX. (September 15, 2014) Nearly one hundred years ago, Sol Villasana’s family had its U.S. beginnings in Dallas’s Little Mexico, the city’s largest and oldest Mexican American neighborhood.

Presently, Sol Vilasansa is Of Counsel with the law firm of White & Wiggins, LLP. He is a civil trial lawyer and certified mediator, with more than thirty years of experience in the regional legal community. Villasana is a prolific writer and frequent speaker on a variety of legal and public policy issues. Most notable is his book, Dallas’s Little Mexico (Arcadia Press) on the history of Dallas’s major Mexican-American community.

Villasana’s book signing will be at the opening reception for the Dallas Mexican American Historical League and the Dallas Jewish Historical Society’s exhibit “Uptown’s Pike Park: Little Jerusalem to Little Mexico, 100 Years of Settlement.”

In collaboration with the Latino Cultural Center, this joint multimedia exhibit will center on life around Pike Park, a designated historic Landmark. The exhibit will trace the area’s early Jewish and, later, Mexican immigrants, and honor community life in this important historic community.
