Rockwall Art League Fine Art Show winners recognized

Best in Show goes to Laura Antony.

ROCKWALL, TX (October 6, 2014) The Rockwall Art League’s Fine Art Show drew a steady crowd of art enthusiasts, buyers, friends, family and community members this weekend at Rockwall Rotary Hall. Many local businesses stepped up to provide door prizes and sponsor the awards, which were presented by Rockwall Mayor David Sweet on Saturday evening.

Nationally recognized, award-winning artist Rusty Jones judged the Show, following in the footsteps of Nancy Boren, Cecy Turner, Andrew Wages, John Pototshnik, Sharon Serrago and other accomplished artists and judges. Cash awards were presented for Best of Show, Oil, Acrylic, Water Media, Drawing, Photography, and Mixed Media/3-Dimensional. The People’s Choice Award, sponsored by RAL, gave visitors a chance to vote on their favorite piece of artwork. An Honorable Mention was also recognized in each category.

Darlene Dittoe and Thom Loafman served as co-chairs of the 2014 event.  Sales of artwork supported RAL’s Tom Collins Memorial Fine Art Scholarship, which is given annually to a Rockwall graduating senior.

Award sponsors included Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall, Milestone Electric, Lakeside National Bank Rockwall, Community Bank of Rockwall, North Texas Appliance, American National Bank, Toyota of Rockwall, Lake Pointe Medical Center, Local Cremation, Heritage GMC Buick Rockwall and Christian Brothers Automotive in Rockwall.

Businesses donating door prizes included Milestone Electric, Christian Brothers Automotive, Candles by Carol, Zanata, Olive Garden, On the Border, Chiloso’s, Firehouse Subs and Edible Arrangements. Special thanks to The Flower Box for donating the centerpiece for the reception. Blue Ribbon News served as the media sponsor.
