Youth group prepares emergency food boxes for Rockwall County seniors

In case of emergency…

ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (October 16, 2014) The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints youth group recently prepared 260 emergency food boxes for Meals On Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County.

Twice a year, the youth group gets together to assemble cardboard boxes and to pack up all manner of non-perishable foods for MOWSS. The boxes are then delivered by the church’s adult congregation to the homebound elderly of the county, to be used in the event of an emergency such as severe weather, which would keep MOWSS volunteer drivers from delivering regular meals.

MOWSS purchases all the food for its emergency food boxes from Brookshire’s in Forney.

MOWSS mission is to keep the elderly and disable citizens of Rockwall County living in their homes as long as safely possible through supportive services, nutritious meals and daily human contact. To volunteer, make a donation or learn more, visit rockwallmealsonwheels.org or call 972-771-9514.
