Tour an inflatable colon to help Rid Rockwall of Colon Cancer

ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX (Feb. 26, 2015)  A giant, inflatable colon – large enough to walk through – will be part of a free, interactive display presented by Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 4 inside the JER Chilton YMCA, 1210 N. Goliad St.

The community is welcome to come and “Meet Marge,” as Texas Health and the Y join forces to “Rid Rockwall of Colon Cancer.”

The come-and-go event helps kick off Colon Cancer Awareness Month, and also serves to raise funds for Relay for Life of Rockwall County, the American Cancer Society’s signature event, taking place from  noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 2 at Wilkerson Sanders Stadium and parking lot. Flowers and awareness bands will be sold during the “Meet Marge” event, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Relay for Life.

A gastroenterologist will also be on hand to answer questions, and participants will be able to take home valuable information to help prevent colon cancer.

Then, on Friday, March 6, be sure to wear blue for “Dress in Blue Day,” and bring greater awareness to screening for this disease.
