Colon Cancer Awareness Month kicks off with interactive display, Dress in Blue Day

Dress in Blue Day today, Friday, March 6, to bring greater awareness to screening for colon cancer

ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX (March 6, 2015) Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall Gastroenterologist Dr. Kristie Blank (pictured above, second from the left) leads a tour through a giant inflatable display set up inside the gymnasium at the JER Chilton YMCA on March 4.

The event helped kick off Colon Cancer Awareness Month, and also served to raise funds for Relay for Life of Rockwall County, the American Cancer Society’s signature event taking place on May 2 at the Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall and the JER Chilton YMCA invited residents to help “Rid Rockwall of Colon Cancer” by touring the interactive display.

Melanie Mayfield, Marketing Coordinator for Texas Health, welcomed visitors and handed out free blue-colored merchandise as a reminder of “Dress In Blue Day,” which is today, Friday, March 6, bringing greater awareness to screening for colon cancer.
