(ROCKWALL, TX – March 26, 2015) Rockwall County Helping Hands welcomes the community to join them in the Garden of Helping Hands from 5 to 7 p.m. on Good Friday, April 3, to kickoff its 2015 Annual Campaign. Guests will learn about the agency’s upcoming plans; meet its new President and CEO, Jon Bailey; bid farewell to retiring Event Director Kay Dutta; and discover how to be part of “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”

The event is sponsored by Lakeside Wine & Brew Network, which hosts socials at different local businesses each month. Bring your favorite white wine, red wine, or brew to share.

Rockwall County Helping Hands is located at 950 Williams Street in Rockwall, 75087.  RSVP to or call 972.771.4357, ext. 238.

Jessica came to Helping Hands having experienced an unexpected job loss and with a pending divorce.  She had been evicted from her apartment and was staying with various friends while she looked for work.   Rockwall County Helping Hands provided food and a listing of local businesses that were hiring.  From that job list, Jessica was able to find employment and get her own place.  Helping Hands provided utility assistance to jumpstart her on her way toward independence.  Jessica loves her new job, and there is already talk of her being able to move into management in the near future.

Donations go a long way! Community support made a difference in the following ways in 2014:

  • 3,426 unduplicated clients received assistance with food, shelter payments, utility bills, household goods and/or clothing from our Centsible Thrift Store
  • More than 25,000 bags of food were distributed from our food pantry
  • 257 families (1,106 individuals) received Thanksgiving turkeys and food baskets
  • 1,184 children, in almost 500 families, received three toys each plus stocking stuffers as our Annual Christmas Toy Distribution
  • 5,700 office visits to the Health Center were performed
  • More than 1,000 lab tests and more than 1,200 vaccines were conducted

Tax-deductible donations can be made online at Rockwallhelpinghands.com or mail to P.O. Box 375, Rockwall, Texas 75087. In appreciation of donations of $250 or more, a commemorative brick or item will be placed in the Garden of Helping Hands.
