150 Aggies, guests gather for Rockwall County A&M Club’s Annual Muster

(ROCKWALL, TX – April 24, 2015) The Rockwall County A&M Club held its annual Muster on April 21.  Muster is one of the most sacred of Aggie Traditions.  It is a time look to the past, present, and future…not only to grieve but to reflect and to celebrate the lives that connect us to one another. A gesture so simple in nature yet so lasting in spirit, Muster is the lasting impression every Aggie leaves with us; it reminds us of the greatness that lies within these walls, of the loyalty we possess, of the connection that binds us, and of the idea that every Aggie has a place of importance – whether they are present in flesh or spirit.

Over 150 Aggies and guests gathered at this year’s Rockwall Muster to honor Aggies who have passed away during the previous year.  Guest speakers were Gabe Bock ’03 from Texags.com and host of Texags Radio; ESPN Reporter and Former Texags Reporter/Host, Kayce Smith ’11; and 3 time Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboy and Aggie Football Great, Kevin Smith ’92.

During its recent Muster, the Rockwall County A&M Club announced its sixth Endowed Scholarship.  To date, the Rockwall County A&M Club has provided $165,000 to the Texas A&M Foundation to fund these Endowed Scholarships.  Each endowed scholarship allows the Rockwall County A&M Club to provide scholarships to A&M students from Rockwall County in perpetuity.

The sixth endowment is in Honor of Marion and Philip H. ’59 Miller.  Mr. Miller is a founding member of the Rockwall County A&M Club, and was involved back when it was the Tri-County (Hunt-Kaufman-Rockwall) A&M Club.  Mr. Miller is a Past President of the club and can be found serving each year at the Rockwall County A&M Club Scholarship Golf Tournament.  The Miller scholarship joins a list honoring: Sue & Duke ’60 Burnett, Beth & James ’60 Coker, Leigh & Clarence ’65 Plagens, Tom ’78 & Margaret ’78 Davidson, and Karen McKee Woodliff ’98.
