Can you guess what’s next for Rockwall Community Playhouse?

“The Munchkinz” rehearse for Wizard of Oz on stage through May.

(ROCKWALL, TX – May 18, 2015) The Rockwall Community Playhouse invites the community to its 2015-2016 Season Announcement Party at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 19. The event will feature an interactive, gameshow-like reveal of RCP’s upcoming season, in which the audience can guess the names of the shows – and win fabulous prizes in the process!

RCP will also host a Wine Pull fundraiser that evening. For $20, attendees can buy a chance to win a bottle of wine with a prize attached. Every bottle is a winner!

RCP has been working hard to make each of its shows as family-friendly and entertaining as possible. The playhouse’s artistic committee hand selects plays for the upcoming seasons based on specific criteria, including whether the production will fit on the RCP stage, as well as the number of scene changes and actors.

“We try to look for plays people would recognize, and ones that have children in them because those tend to draw a larger audience,” said RCP board member Felicia Sykes. She said they try to clean up scripts if the content is not suitable for children, and include parental warnings if the production has any adult content or themes.

“We try to pick shows that whole families can enjoy,” added fellow RCP board member Richard James. “Our goal is to make it family-friendly, especially our musicals. We make a specific effort to not pick shows that are too risqué or cutting edge.”

The artistic committee plans RCP’s seasons at least two years in advance, and are considering a themed 2016-2017 season titled “Theater through the Decades” where audiences will witness the progression of theatre arts with plays dating back to the early 1900s and onwards.
