Ms Senior Texas to speak at Friends of Rockwall County Library meeting

(ROCKWALL, TX – August 29, 2015) Jill Rumbley Beam, newly crowned Ms Senior Texas, will be the featured speaker at the Friends of the Rockwall County Library meeting on Tuesday, September 8. The meeting will begin at 11:00 AM at the Community Room at the library,  located at 1215E. Yellowjacket in Rockwall.

Beam, who was named Ms Senior Texas on August 8, will be speaking on “Growing Up Rumbley.”  In addition to recounting her early life as the daughter of popular speaker and actress Rose Mary Rumbley and the late Jack Rumbley, music educator and symphony percussionist, her presentation will include part of the talent section that helped earn her the title of Ms Senior Texas.  She will compete in the national Ms Senior America Pageant to be held in Atlantic City in October.

“Being the daughter of Rose Mary and Jack Rumbley was fun and fascinating, because there was never a dull moment!” says Jill. From stories about the turquoise station wagon to family movie trips, growing up in the Rumbley household filled with music, dance, laughter and entertainment.  One of her many memories is meeting Ginger Rogers who once autographed the soles of Jill’s tap shoes.

Beam, who recently turned “sensational sixty,” is an accomplished flutist and long time dance and Jazzercise instructor. She retired this spring after 28 years with the Dallas Park Department where she held a variety of positions, including being responsible for the oversight of all Dallas park facilities, athletic fields and community centers. This summer she “rewired” herself and began a new job as Manager of the Lewisville Senior Citizens Center.
