City of Rockwall to fog in area where mosquito tested positive for West Nile

(ROCKWALL, TX – October 1, 2015) Based upon the recommendation of the City Health Official, the City of Rockwall staff is initiating a limited Mosquito Abatement Program consisting of fogging in a one mile radius of the Hickory Ridge/Meadowcreek developments. Beginning on Monday, October 5th, City crews will begin fogging streets between the hours of 11pm and 5am in the area detailed below in yellow.  City crews routinely trap mosquitos to test for the West Nile Virus.  A mosquito tested positive for the West Nile Virus captured in the greenbelt area between the Hickory Ridge and Meadowcreek developments.  The spray program will consist of three consecutive evenings of spraying between 11:00pm and 5:00am within a one mile radius of the location where the mosquito that tested positive was captured.

Currently no confirmed human cases of West Nile Virus have been found within the City of Rockwall to date.
