Rush Creek Yacht Club presents Chilton Award, announces Junior Flag Officers

(ROCKWAL/HEATH, TX – Jan. 27, 2016) Rush Creek Yacht Club recently announced its 2016 Junior Flag Officers, and recognized the recipient of the prestigious Chilton Award.

The junior flag officers duties are to encourage junior involvement in sailing, racing and general social activities, and assist in adult club functions.

The 2016 Junior Flag Officers are:

Junior Commodore – Kate Schmiege
Junior Vice-Commodore – Caleb Shi
Junior Rear-Commodore – Andrew Vandling

Sixteen-year-old Caleb Shi is the winner of the Chilton Award, which is presented annually at RCYC’s Junior Awards Banquet to the most outstanding junior sailor of the year.

The eleventh grader has competed in seven Texas Sailing Association (TSA) Regattas throughout 2015 and came in second place in the Laser 4.7 fleet in the TSA Circuit. He then traveled to Miami, FL and competed in the “Orange Bowl” International Youth Regatta where he came in 13th place overall.

Caleb also received his certification in 2015 as a level I sailing coach.
