Kelson Elam files for Heath City Council

(HEATH, TX – Feb. 5, 2016)  Kelson Elam, a Heath home owner for nearly 17 years, filed Wednesday to run for the Heath City Council, Place 5.

Elam owns the software and computer network company, Genesta, located on Interstate 30.  He lives with his wife, Brenda, on Lake Ray Hubbard.  Elam came to Rockwall County in the mid 70’s.

“When elected, I will do my best to ensure the needs of current Heath homeowners don’t get overlooked as the city continues its rapid expansion.  We must maintain the rural charm that drew most of us here.  Preserving  Heath’s  mission of responsible and sustainable growth will help control unneeded assessments and tax proposals,” Elam said.

“My business experience of helping mid size and Fortune 500 companies improve their bottom line along with a history of leadership in volunteer organizations will serve well as Heath continues to grow in a responsible manner.  I’ve watched the good and the bad of our area growing for the past 40 years and want to make sure we all learn from it,”   Elam added.

“When concerned residents asked me to file for Heath City Council, they told me they were concerned with whether current homeowners would be fully represented as Heath is overrun with new developments.  I’m running for office because they put their trust in me to protect the community we have spent many years to build.  I will also ensure that voters remain informed and that council decisions are transparent.”

Elam said another reason he felt he could well represent Heath homeowners was because “my daughter, granddaughter, sister, brother-in-law, and father also own homes in Heath. You can be sure, they will tell me what they think.”

He says living at Ray Hubbard Lake lets him enjoy sailing, fishing and amazing sunsets. Elam has belonged to the sailing club there since 1984. “For my other hobby, I hunt birds near my childhood Abilene home.”

The election for Heath City Council is scheduled for May 7 with early voting beginning April 25.
