Superhero on special mission visits Springer Elementary

(ROCKWALL,TX- Feb. 4, 2016) Whether he’s fighting crime and battling the forces of evil as Batman, Superman, Iron Man or a police man, Damon Cole is a full-time super hero.

The Fort Worth police officer dedicates his free time and personal savings to visiting young cancer patients across the country, going “virtually ANYWHERE to make a sick child happy.”

His custom 2012 Superman Dodge Charger is a resounding hit at schools and hospitals, as are the greeting cards and personalized capes he delivers to those whose medical conditions are dire. He’s even flown into funerals to drape small caskets with superhero blankets.

Yesterday Damon Cole visited Springer Elementary School as Batman, after forging a friendship with School Resource Officer Dee Brumit.  As brother and sister in blue, Batman and his sidekick talked to the students about being “bully free” and a “friend to all.” He showed the students his custom car and posed for photos with pre-K through third grade. He left every student his “hero card.” He plans to visit two other RISD schools as different superheroes.

“I have been an SRO in Rockwall ISD for 13 years and this was one of the most memorable moments in my police career!” said SRO Dee Brumit. “Damon gives so very much of his time, money, heart and soul to so others…and now, his dad is very sick in ICU. He has been by his dad’s bedside too during all of his other commitments.”

Damon’s father, Charles Cole, was hospitalized Saturday after an unexpected illness. He underwent brain surgery earlier this week and is now recovering. There has been an outpouring of support from those who follow the superhero’s feats on facebook. Damon has requested prayers for his father, and thanks everyone for their support.
