HSAA Water Polo Teams finish the regular season strong

(ROCKWALL, TX — April 11, 2016) The HSAA (Home School Athletic Association) Angels Water Polo teams finished their high school regular season on very high notes. The girls finished with a 3-3 record with victories over MacArthur 9-1 and Southlake JV 3-1. They dropped two games 3-13 to Marcus and 1-5 to Flower Mound JV.

Bryan Jennings, goalie, stares down his Flower Mound JV opponent seconds before blocking his shot in an 8-5 win.

“We have seen a big difference in the way the girls are playing this year,” said assistant coach Jim Hummingbird. “They gave up an average of 10 goals a game last year. This year, it is down to 5. Coach Angela Uno has really done a great job improving the defensive intensity the girls play with.”

The boy’s team went undefeated over the last two weekends bringing their overall record to 10-2 for the season. They did so by dropping Woodrow Wilson twice, 12-7 and 12-3 respectively. They also defeated Marcus 14-8 and Flower Mound JV 8-5.

“This is the first time we have been in double digits in the win column. It has been a special year for us,” Hummingbird said. “Our only losses were to the reigning state champions St. Marks and the #4 team in the North Texas Region Denton Guyer. I would say they have represented themselves very well.”

Becky Saldana applies defensive pressure to her Southlake Carroll JV opponent in a 3-1 win.

The HSAA Angels boys and girls water polo teams will be back in action as they finish the 2016 year at the North Texas Consolidated High Schools Championships on Saturday, April 23. The tournament will be held at the Westside Aquatic Center, 1750 Duncan Ln, in Lewisville, TX 75028. For more information, visit hsaa.orgor email hsaah2opolo@gmail.com.

Game times will be announced on HSAA website as soon as they are available. Come out and support the only all homeschool high school water polo team in the nation!
