Rep. Ratcliffe honors Rockwall High School student Chris Daniels for U.S. Air Force Academy appointment

(ROCKWALL, TX – May 12, 2016) Congressman John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) formally honored Rockwall High School student, Chris Daniels, Monday for accepting his appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy. Daniels, who was nominated to the academy by Ratcliffe, is one of just eight students from the Fourth District of Texas to accept an appointment to a military academy for the upcoming school year.

Rep. Ratcliffe congratulates Chris Daniels on his appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy.

“Chris is a phenomenal young man from Texas’ Fourth District, and I was inspired by his desire to support his country through military service,” Ratcliffe said.

“Acceptance into one of our nation’s military academies is a distinct honor that requires hard work, discipline and commitment to serve. Chris epitomizes all of these qualities.”

Academy appointment involves an extensive application that requires nomination from a U.S. Congressman or Senator, or from the Vice President of the United States. About 13 percent of students who apply are accepted to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy each year.
