Rockwall DA Culpepper educates RISD PTA Council about new Child Advocacy Center

(ROCKWALL, TX — May 4, 2016)  Rockwall County District Attorney Kenda Culpepper recently spoke to both Rockwall Independent School District principals and the RISD PTA Council about the new and developing Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County.  She educated school and PTA leaders about what services the CAC will provide on behalf of children who have suffered from abuse or neglect.  She also encouraged their partnership with the CAC through PTA and student service projects and asked for their help in continuing to spread community awareness about the upcoming center.

During the PTA Council meeting, she and other task force members distributed blue ribbons in recognition of National Child Abuse Awareness Month.  The ribbons were crafted by Williams Middle School PALS and Drill Team members and also handed out at the Rockwall City Parade earlier this month.

“I continue to be overwhelmed by the community support we have received in moving forward with the creation of the Children’s Advocacy Center,” Culpepper said.  “Rockwall County has a beautiful heart.  We are still very hopeful that we will be able to raise sufficient funds to hire staff and open the doors this fall.”

The CAC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to abused children.  It will provide a safe, child-friendly environment where prosecutors, law enforcement, counselors and other advocates will collaborate to more effectively seek justice and promote healing for Rockwall County’s most vulnerable citizens.  For more information about the CAC or to help, go to rockwallcac.org.
