Meet the Candidates at Rockwall County Bar Association Town Hall Debate

Gloria Campos to moderate as November 2016 candidates debate the issues

(ROCKWALL, TX – Sept. 21, 2016) As part of its dedication to the community, the Rockwall County Bar Association presents the 2016 Candidates’ Forum.

Nearly a dozen candidates seeking public office in the general election this November will gather at the Rockwall County Courthouse to test their mettle in the political arena of ideas. These hopefuls will stand before the community to answer questions, discuss the issues, and promote their positions and qualifications.

The local seats up for election this November include U.S. House of Representatives (District 4), Texas House of Representatives (District 33), State Board of Education (District 9), Rockwall County Justice of the Peace (Place 3), and two judicial seats on the Texas Fifth District Court of Appeals.

This “town hall” style Candidates’ Forum will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 5 in Liberty Hall (the Central Jury Room) on the first floor of the Rockwall County Courthouse located at 1111 East Yellow Jacket Lane, Rockwall, Texas 75087. This event is free and open to the public. Do not miss this rare opportunity to get to know the candidates before pulling the lever this November. Light refreshments will be served.

“It is important for all citizens to have the chance to question local candidates about their positions and how those positions impact our communities,” said Rockwall County Bar Association President Amy Ganci. “Transparency is a key element in our democracy, and we hope everyone takes advantage of this opportunity directly interact with our candidates for office.”

Candidates confirmed to attend include:

Cody Wommack (L) – U.S. House of Representatives, District 4;
Justin Holland (R), Karen Jacobs (D), and Rick Donaldson (L) – Texas House of Representatives, District 33;
Judge Mark Russo (R) and Tim Wells (D) – Rockwall Justice of the Peace, Place 3;
Amanda Rudolph (D) and Keven Ellis (R) – State Board of Education, District 9;
Justice Lana Myers (R) – Texas Fifth Court of Appeals, Seat 4; and,
Justice David Schenck (R) and Judge Dennise Garcia (D) – Texas Fifth Court of Appeals, Seat 7.

Moderating for the event will be former WFAA-TV Channel 8 News Anchor Gloria Campos.
