Rockwall girls cross country team finishes first, boys third

(ROCKWALL, TX – Sept. 12, 2016) Rockwall High’s varsity cross country girls finished first and the boys came in third in the Tyler Lee Classic at U.T. Tyler on Saturday.

The Lady Jackets had five runners placing in the Top 10, and seven runners in the Top 20. They scored 24 points as a team and brought home the first place trophy. Kaitlyn Stark led the Lady Jackets with a 19:18 for second place overall, followed by Ariell Hopkins in 5th place with a time of 19:50.

Liah Collins ran 19:54 for 6th place, Allyson McCutcheon ran 20:00 for 7th and Madeline Null posted a 20:55 time for 10th place. Abigail Graves clocked a 21:44 for 17th place and Kate Avery placed 20th with a time of 21:56.

Also posting times for the Lady Jackets were Rylie Robertson with her 22:05 for 24th place, Annie McKee with 23:17 for 42nd and Faith Robertson with her 23:26 for 47th place.

The RHS boys team of Damon Lewis, Austin Shumake, Jose Olivarez, Wilson Null and Jack Hittson-Smith logged 132 points for third place in the team standings.

Lewis led the way with an eighth place finish with a time of 16:55, followed by Shumake in 10th with a time of 17:07. Olivarez clocked an 18:11 for 31st place, Null placed 44th with a time of 18:27 and Hittson-Smith ran 18:33 for 47th place.

Also competing for the Jackets were Nick Roland (19:19), Campbell Kutac (19:20), Joseph Martin (20:45) and Jared Pugh (24:33).
