Jones Elementary custodian named Employee of the Year

(ROCKWALL, TX — Nov. 15, 2016) Gloria Mendez, a custodian at Dorris Jones Elementary was selected as SSC’s Employee of the Year! In order to be chosen, a custodian must first be selected as employee of the month. These employees are picked based on customer service, attendance, and a number of other characteristics. When speaking of Gloria, Michelle Garcia, the custodial contract manager for SSC said, “Gloria is always there. She’s reliable and never misses a day. She is a remarkable person and is a hard worker. She’s definitely a GEM.”

Teresa Twedell, the Principal at Jones Elementary believes, “We are so fortunate to have Gloria Mendez. She does an outstanding job and always goes above and beyond. Not only does she meet the entire campus custodial needs, she is always kind and helpful with the students.”

After winning, Gloria Mendez was asked how she felt about winning and she said, “It made me very happy and was a total surprise. I wasn’t expecting it. I always work hard for the teachers and students and I am very grateful and want to thank the staff for noticing my hard work.”
