American Legion Post 117 of Rockwall to host annual birthday luncheon

(ROCKWALL, TX — Feb. 9, 2017) The Terry Fisher American Legion Post 117 extends an invitation to the community to celebrate the birthday of the American Legion at the Center in Rockwall (108 East Washington St) on Sunday March 5th at 12:30.  Check-in opens at 12:00.  Program highlights include recognition of the 19 students selected to represent Rockwall County at the American Legion Department of Texas Boys State/Girls State program this summer.  This is the largest delegation the Post has ever sent largely because of fund raising efforts conducted by the Post this past year.  Eleven girls and eight boys from Rockwall High, Rockwall Heath and Heritage Christian Academy will attend the two programs in June.

Entertainment will be provided by the Amy Parks Heath Elementary Patriot Choir.  The Starlight Singers will sing patriotic songs, led by Ms. Jan Stonestreet.

Guest Speaker will be Rockwall County Sheriff Harold Eavenson, incumbent President of the American Sheriff’s Association.

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veteran’s organization. Focusing on service to veterans, service members and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States.  The Terry Fisher Post is the oldest non-profit in Rockwall County.

Cost is $15 per person payable at the door.  Children under 6 are free.

Please contact, Gary Bunch (gbunch76@gmail.com) to make a reservation or to find out how to join the Post.
