Women In Need kicks off 2017 campaign with successful Chocolate Indulgence event

(ROCKWALL, TX Feb. 7, 2017) Women In Need invited folks to indulge their valentines with an evening of dinner, dancing and lots of chocolate at its Chocolate Indulgence 2017 event on Friday, Feb. 3, at the Hidden Creek Event Center in Heath (215 Chris Cuny Pkwy).

A chocolate fountain and a variety of chocolate sweets courtesy of Sweet Face Sugar Shoppe and Bakery complimented a fun night of dancing, live music entertainment provided by the Davis and Rose Band, and a live and silent auction benefitting Women In Need (WIN).

Women In Need provides multiple services free of charge for victims of domestic violence, including a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter care, legal advocacy, counseling services, and aftercare and support for those who have exited shelter. Currently operating out of offices in Greenville and the Children’s Advocacy Center in Rockwall, WIN Executive Director Connie Pettitt said WIN will be looking for a new home in Rockwall to continue providing services for victims of domestic abuse.

“Women In Need has been providing services here for 13 years. We have an opportunity to move forward at a new location. We’re going to be looking for a new building to provide these services. We’re looking for a home here in Rockwall. It will be a safe place, will have security and be a refuge for those we serve to find solace, so that the hope and the healing can begin to take place,” Pettitt said.

Those in attendance were challenged to become the heartbeat for their community by pledging to support Women In Need. In return, pledgers received a blinking heart pin, lighting up the room with flashing red hearts.
