(ROCKWALL, TX – March 29, 2017) Relief and recovery efforts are underway for the Dalton Ranch subdivision located in north Rockwall that was hit by a severe storm late last night.

The subdivision is located along FM 552 near Anna Cade Road and FM 1141. Rockwall County Emergency Management Specialist Melanie Jensen said the county’s Office of Emergency Management coordinated with the National Weather Service to determine the nature of the damage, and that according to the Ft. Worth NWS determined that homes were damage by 90-95 mph straight line winds. Jensen stated there were approximately 25 homes in the subdivision that were affected by the storm, with three homes suffering major damage. One person was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Jensen said the county is supporting the City of Rockwall’s response and recovery efforts, that Rockwall CERT and the American Red Cross have responded to the area and at this time are unaware of any unmet needs.

According to a Rockwall Police Department press release, the Rockwall Fire department and the Rockwall Police Department are currently in the neighborhood assisting with damage assessments, with the Street Department clearing debris from the roadways and Rockwall CERT onsite to help with cleanup efforts and assist those in need.

The press release also states that the public is asked to stay away from the area during the cleanup process and that school will resume as usual for Celia Hays Elementary School, which is located within the affected subdivision.

The JER Chilton YMCA in Rockwall is welcoming anyone affected by the storm (hot showers, electricity is on) and the Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management has recently posted on Facebook asking anyone who was affected by the storm to send an email with ALL of the following to emergencymanagement@rockwallcountytexas.com with the subject “3/29/17 Storm Damage”:
