Bluebonnet Trails excursion will make for best Easter weekend ever

(ROCKWALL, TX – April 14, 2017) As I sit here staring at this basket of chocolate candy in front of me, the only thing I have on my mind is Easter weekend. And it’s going to be good one because I get to spend it with someone near and dear to my heart.

My longtime girlfriend is finally coming home after being away at college for the last three weeks. Let me tell you, it’s been a very long three weeks without her. Lately for me it’s been work by day, play by night. No literally, I have rehearsals in the evening for a play I’m in – Pillow Talk. They’re going smoothly, and with each rehearsal I feel more and more confident that this will be a show you won’t want to miss. It’s funny, charming, romantic, and some of the characters have these lines that are just totally out there and completely hysterical. Tickets are on sale now at www.rockwallcommunityplayhouse.com or you can use this link to buy tickets –  https://buy.ticketstothecity.com/purchase.php?event_id=5308. Use the code word TELEPHONE for a limited time discount of $5 off each ticket.

My next rehearsal isn’t until Monday next week, and with most of our upcoming print edition well in hand I’m looking forward to spending a lovely weekend with, well, my lovely girlfriend. We’re having a fun Easter egg hunt in my parents’ backyard later this afternoon, and then on Saturday we’re going on a trip to Ennis to see the Bluebonnet Trails. I’m super psyched for that! According to visitennis.org, Ennis was designated by the 1997 State Legislature as the home of the “Official Texas Bluebonnet Trail” and was also designated the “Official Bluebonnet City of Texas.” Every year from throughout the month of April, Ennis showcases over 40 miles of mapped Bluebonnet trails sponsored by the Ennis Garden Club.

The website states that the Bluebonnets typically peak beginning in the third week in April. Judging from recent photos I’ve seen of the trails online I’d say they’ve gotten started a week early. And according to the Bluebonnet status report provided by the Ennis Garden Club on the website, the best days to view the trails happen to fall from April 11-17 this year! Awesomeness!

Speaking of other cool things in Ennis – ever been to the Galaxy Drive-in Theatre? It’s amazing! They have seven giant outdoor movie screens set up, with each showing a pair of films. The movies are typically grouped by genre or themes. You can drive up, park your car, tune your radio to the designated station, and enjoy a couple of movies from the comfort of your own vehicle. You can also bring some lawn chairs or spread a blanket out on the grass and enjoy the movies outside the car. It’s a really neat experience and even more fun if you bring your significant other for a date night.

If you’re looking for something fun and different to do this Easter weekend, you should go check out what’s playing at the Galaxy – http://www.galaxydriveintheatre.com/. If you’re not sure what to see, I highly recommend both films on Screen 6.

However you choose to spend your Easter weekend, I hope you make it a special one. I know mine will be. Happy Easter!
