Public meetings to address I-30 from Bass Pro Drive to west of FM 2642

(ROCKWALL, TX – April 29, 2017) The Texas Department of Transportation is proposing improvements to IH 30 from Bass Pro Road in Dallas County to west of FM 2642 in Dallas and Rockwall Counties, Texas. Pursuant to Texas Administrative Code, Title 43, Part 1, Chapter 2, Subchapter E, §2.105 and Code of Federal Regulations, Title 23, Chapter I, Subchapter H, §771.111 and Title 40, Chapter V, §7 506, this notice advises the public that TxDOT will be conducting two public meetings for the public’s convenience to discuss and receive public comments on the proposed project.

The first meeting will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Royse City High School (cafeteria), 700 South FM 2642 Royse City, Texas 75189. The second meeting will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at the Rockwall County District Courthouse (Liberty Hall), 1111 East Yellow Jacket Lane #401 Rockwall, Texas 75087.

Representatives from TxDOT and project consultants will be available to answer questions about the proposed project improvements. Both meetings will present the same information, and will be held in an open house format from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with no formal presentation.

Proposed improvements to IH 30 would reconstruct and/or widen this highway from Bass Pro Road in Dallas County to west of FM 2642 in Rockwall County, approximately 17 miles through the Cities of Garland, Rowlett, Rockwall, Mobile City, Fate, and Royse City.

Transportation improvements are needed on IH 30 to address current and projected traffic demands and facility deficiencies, and to establish a safe and efficient thoroughfare by which to provide goods and services in the eastern portion of Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW). The proposed improvements include widening from 4 to 6 lanes from west of State Highway (SH) 205 to west of FM 2642; widening from 6 to 8 lanes from Bass Pro Drive to west of SH 205; construction of new frontage roads from Bass Pro Drive to Horizon Road (including bridge structures across Lake Ray Hubbard); bicycle and pedestrian facilities across Lake Ray Hubbard; and ramp and interchange construction and reconfiguration in the project corridor. Additional right-of-way is anticipated to be required along this segment of IH 30.

Maps showing the proposed project’s location and geometric design will be available for viewing at the public meetings. This information will also available for public inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the TxDOT Dallas District Office located at 4777 East Highway 80, Mesquite, Texas 75150; City of Rockwall located at 385 South Goliad Street, Rockwall, Texas 75087; City of Rowlett Public Works located at 4310 Industrial Street Rowlett, TX 75088; City of Fate located at 104 East Fate Main Place, Fate, Texas 75132; City of Royse City located at 305 North Arch Street, Royse City, Texas 75189; City of Garland Municipal Building located at 800 Main Street, Garland, Texas 75040; and TxDOT Kaufman Area Office, 2750 South Washington, Kaufman, TX 75142. The information will also be available online at www.keepitmovingdallas.com under Upcoming Public Hearing/Meeting.

All interested persons are invited to attend the public meeting. Written comments from the public are requested and will be accepted for a period of 15 calendar days following the meeting. Written comments may be submitted either in person at the public meeting, by mail to the TxDOT Dallas District Office, Attention: Ms. Grace Lo, P.E., 4777 E. Highway 80, Mesquite, TX 75150-6643, or by email addressed to Grace.Lo@txdot.gov. Written comments must be received or postmarked on or before Friday, May 19, 2017 to be included in the documentation of the public meeting.

The public meeting will be conducted in English. Persons interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs, such as the need for an interpreter, are encouraged to contact the TxDOT Dallas District Public Information Office at (214) 320-4480. being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December
16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
