Rest Haven holds ribbon cutting for new development

(ROCKWALL, TX – June 12, 2017) Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rockwall revealed its new hilltop development, The Grove at Rest Haven, with a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Sunday, June 11.

The Grove at Rest Haven is designed as a place to stroll the pathways, enjoy the gentle rhythm of a swing, listen to the healing sounds of water, and take in the quiet of a stunning sunrise or dazzling sunset.

Ann Cain, owner of The Flower Box located on site of the funeral home, said the idea for the expansion began several years ago and culminated into a vision to bring a natural, peaceful area for families to reflect and reminisce on the memories of lost loved ones.

“This actually all started about 5-7 years ago on a sister trip to Missouri, where my sister Nancy and I had an opportunity to spend two or three days,” Cain said. “We weren’t necessarily looking at cemeteries, but we stumbled across a beautiful little chapel out in a wooded area, and both of us immediately thought, oh my goodness – one day wouldn’t it be great to have a little chapel in a wooded area at Rest Haven? On another trip that was a girls trip to Ireland, I was so inspired by all the little stone cottages and the pathways in wooded areas, and very natural feeling. Later, on a trip to Alabama, there were arbor swings all up and down a coastline.

“All of those things began to gel in my mind and primarily, in my heart. My heart comes to Rest Haven every day, and I’m so proud for this day to come to pass. A vision is just a vision until you have the talent and the teamwork to bring that together.”

Rest Haven Funeral Home owner Dewayne Cain said the new expansion is one of many that Rest Haven has seen since its early beginnings.

“The first person buried here was Michael Craig in 1970. I’m thinking about Mike’s family right now: they took a chance. They buried a loved one out here when there wasn’t anything, and Rest Haven began to progress. It went from the rock roads to the asphalt roads, then to the concrete drives, and has expanded several times since that time. We’re proud of this expansion, we’re proud of the things that we’re able to offer, and I’m hoping Mike’s family are proud of these changes that have occurred, too,” he said.

Following the ceremony, community members joined Rest Haven staff for a tour of the development, light refreshments and live entertainment by Standards Gazette.
