Royse City American Legion speaks to local Boy Scouts troop

(ROYSE CITY, TX — August 28, 2017) Recently the local Nwingi Boy Scouts troop asked the Royse City American Legion Post to come speak to them about the American Legion and its Eagle Scout of the Year Award. The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year award is a National Competition where the winner receives a $10,000 scholarship. The Nwingi presented the Post Commander one of their patches signed on the back by the troop leader.

“This was truly an eye opening experience to be able to speak to these young men and learn more about the Boy’s Scouts,” said Post Commander Jason Castleberry.

Since 1910, the Boy Scouts strives to mold the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The American Legion has been a long supporter of scouting. In fact since the very first American Legion convention in 1919, the American Legion has supported scouting.

“The American Legion has long realized that scouting builds the same ideas of volunteerism and patriotism as the American Legion,” Castleberry said.
