(ROCKWALL, TX — September 27, 2017) Rockwall High School Cross Country Boys Varsity placed 4th out of 38 teams in the Lovejoy XC Fall Festival on Sept. 23 at Myers Park in McKinney. The top five runners for the team were Austin Shumake finishing 17:03 for 7th overall; River Hill running 17:04 and finishing 8th overall; Jack Hittson-Smith running 17:16 placing 18th; Brayden Ortiz with a time of 17:57 placing 54th and Joe Martin running 18:32 placing 113th.
The girls varsity team competed well despite being down a few runners this week, placed 9th out of 38 teams this week. Leading the girls varsity team this week was Ariell Hopkins with a time of 20:35 in 9th place overall; Olivia Cade with a time of 22:04 placing 41st; Taellur McCartney with a time of 22:19 placing 61st; Allyson McCutcheon with a time of 22:51 placing 83rd and Annie McKee with a time of 23:46 placing 137th.
This Saturday the RHS Cross Country team will compete in Rowlett at Springfield Park starting at 8 a.m.
