City of Heath Mayor Brian Berry Will Not Seek Re-Election in 2018 General Election

(HEATH, TX – Oct. 17, 2017) City of Heath Mayor Brian Berry today announced that he will not seek re-election as Mayor in the May 2018 General Election. Berry is currently serving as Mayor, following two terms of service as a Councilmember.

“When I took the oath of office as Mayor in May, I stated three primary goals that I wanted to achieve during my tenure,” Mayor Berry said. “As we are seeing each of these goals come to fruition, now is the time for me to focus on my professional career and my family.”

The Mayor’s goals included implementing and overseeing two phases of a Capital Improvement Plan, representing over $40 million in infrastructure improvements that benefit the entire community. The second goal was to recruit a high quality grocery store, which is occurring with the Tom Thumb planned development at FM-549 and Laurence Dr. And finally, the Mayor was committed to ensuring that the golf course at Heath Golf and Yacht Club community was constructed.

“We have just received word that funding has been secured for the golf course,” said Mayor Berry. “I thank the citizens of Heath for the privilege of being their Mayor. I will continue to work hard on their behalf while holding this office, and look forward to being an involved citizen in the future.”
