Lee Gilbert Announces Re-Election Bid

(ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX – Oct. 27, 2017) Lee Gilbert, Rockwall County Commissioner Precinct 2, has announced that he is running for re-election to continue his commitment to a “common sense approach to conservative government”.

Since taking office in January 2015, Mr. Gilbert has advocated the lowering of property tax rates for Rockwall County for the past two budgets. Rockwall County now has its lowest tax rate since 1998. In addition, he supports Rockwall County at Veteran’s Court, where he has and continues to mentor Veterans who have encountered various legal issues since returning to civilian life. Mr. Gilbert is also on the Juvenile Probation Board as well as the Road Consortium overseeing county, state, and federal highways.

Lee has been an active community member in Rockwall County for the past 35 years. Prior to becoming the Precinct 2 Commissioner he served on the Long-Term Planning Committee of Rockwall County, focusing on its finances. He was also co-chair of the Veteran’s Memorial Planning Committee, which now resides at the Rockwall County Government Center, and a member of the Rockwall County Library Board for two terms. Additionally, Mr. Gilbert is an active member of the American Legion Post 117, including serving multiple terms as its commander. He has been active with Helping Hands, having served on its board, the executive committee, and chairman of the thrift store. Lee has also served on the board of the YMCA and was an organizing member of CASA. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Heath and serves on its outreach committee.
