Rockwall Chamber Names New President

(ROCKWALL, TX – Oct. 13, 2017) The Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome Tom Manskey as its new President, effective Nov. 1, 2017.

Manskey brings a strong background in economic and community development, business advocacy, operations management, strategic planning, and budget administration. He was offered the position following a rigorous search and screening process that began in July when former President, Dana K. Macalik, IOM, announced her resignation in order to pursue other opportunities.

The Chamber Board of Directors formed a Search Committee to oversee the selection process, with collaborative efforts of the Executive Board, current and past board members, and community leaders to assist with identifying and evaluating candidates. The Search Committee was chaired by Chamber Board Chairman Brett Lee, COO of Capital Senior Living.

“The Board of Trustees is excited to welcome Tom Manskey as the next President of the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce,” Lee said. “Tom brings with him a wealth of experience in leading large Chambers in dynamic and growing communities like Rockwall, and also has a demonstrated track record of working collaboratively with local government, community leaders, and economic development professionals to build a vital business base wherever he has been invited to lead.”

Manskey has served as the Executive Director of the Palestine Economic Development Corporation since 2014, and previously served as President and CEO of several Chambers of Commerce – including the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce from 1991-1997. He earned IOM Designation from the US Chamber of Commerce, the Distinguished Service Award from Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives, and Certified Chamber of Commerce Executive Designation from the US Chamber of Commerce. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Planning / Geography from Texas State University and earned his Institute for Organizational Management certification at Southern Methodist University.

“I am really excited to be returning to Rockwall.  I have watched the Chamber grow from afar and I’m looking forward to working with the Board, Volunteers and Staff to continue this growth,” said Manskey.  During my first 90 days I plan on doing a lot of listening. Rockwall is a great area with great people and I can’t wait to be a part of the community again.”

Darby Burkey, who served as Interim President, will continue in her role as Vice President of Partner Engagement.
