Super Hero 5K Oct 28 to benefit Lone Star CASA

(ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX – Oct. 18, 2017) Every child needs a hero, but abused and neglected children need SUPER HEROES! You can be a part of providing a Super Hero for abused or neglected children in Rockwall and Kaufman Counties by supporting the 2017 Lone Star CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Annual 5K and Fun Run.

There is a change of date and venue for 2017 so you can begin Scare on the Square early!  This year’s race is on October 28 and will begin at Rockwall City Hall, 385 S. Goliad Street, Rockwall.  Check-in and late registration begin at 7:00 a.m.  The Family/Kids Fun Run begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K Race/Walk begins at 9:00 a.m.  Strollers are welcome.  Awards are at 10:00 a.m. at the stage on the east side of the Rockwall Historic Courthouse on the Square.

The CASA Super Hero 5K raises awareness and funds to ensure that someday every abused or neglected child in Rockwall and Kaufman Counties will have a Superhero CASA volunteer. Race activities include costume contests, awards ceremony, food and drinks. The Lone Star CASA Superhero 5k/Fun Run and Family/Kids Run are sponsored and supported by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, Baylor Emergency Medical Center at Rockwall, and The Jessica Hargis Group and other local businesses.  Additional information and on-line registration are available at www.lonestarcasa.org and www.playtri.com/races.

Proceeds from the 5K event benefit the Lone Star CASA program in their efforts to recruit and train CASA volunteers to give a “voice” to abused and neglected children in court and the foster care system.

Early packet pickup is at Rockwall Cycling, 939 East I-30, Rockwall, Texas 75087, Thursday October 26th and Friday October 27th 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
