Cain Middle School students make All-Region Honor Band

(ROCKWALL, TX — December 5, 2017) Congratulations to six Mighty Mustang Band students from Cain Middle School for successfully auditioning and making the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region 25 Middle School Honor Band.

On Nov. 11 and Nov. 13, band students from Cain Middle School traveled to Lovejoy ISD and auditioned for only a handful of spots in the elite ensemble. These students competed against nearly 1,000 other 7th and 8th grade students from 17 different school districts in the region including McKinney ISD, Wylie ISD, and Allen ISD.

Bravo to all the students for working so hard throughout the entire process. Special congratulations to Trevor Ousey, Thomas Kramer, and Rod Kosterman, and the Mustang Band team of private lesson instructors for their help and support along the way.

Here are the six All-Region students:

  • Ethan Rodriguez, Tuba
  • Ian Blackburn, Tuba
  • Garrett Salowski, Clarinet
  • Caleb Edney, Trumpet
  • Brett Strange, Euphonium
  • Hunter Kirk, Alto Saxophone

In addition to the six students above, one student made alternate status for the honor band:

  • Emily Purser, Clarinet

These students will join the other Honor Band members from around the region and participate in the TMEA All-Region Honor Band clinic and concert on Dec. 8-9 at Rockwall-Heath High School.
