Local educator, youth advocate announces candidacy for Rockwall County Commissioner

(ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX – Dec. 16, 2017) Ericka Ledferd is honored to announce her candidacy for the Office of County Commissioner, Rockwall County, Precinct 4. For the past 11 years, she and her family have lived in Rockwall County in Royse City, and she has been working for Royse City ISD.

Ericka is passionate about public service; she developed an early interest in politics and interdisciplinary studies while growing up and traveling across South America. At the age of 17, Ericka immigrated to the United States from Buenos Aires, Argentina. As a naturalized American citizen, her civic responsibility has become more critical than ever. She feels called upon to do her part to help build and uphold our country’s best values. She exemplifies the idea of the “American Dream” by becoming successful due to her hard work! Her dedication to her students shows that she wholeheartedly believes in equal educational opportunities, as she had the opportunity to become a product of the Texas education system.

In 2003, she received her B.S. degree in Political Science with a Minor in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University-Commerce. After graduation, she worked for TRIO Programs at Southern Methodist University, and later for the Foreign Language Program at Texas A&M University-Commerce, during which time she continued her studies and obtained her M.A. degree in Spanish Literature in 2006.

Ericka Ledferd has a lovely family, and her husband David along with their children are some of her greatest supporters! Ericka strives daily to pursue kindness, honesty, and decency, three essential things for which every citizen of our country should also strive. Ericka has much to offer to her community, and she is interested in its future. As a hardworking educator, she leaves a legacy of good work and has made an impact on students’ and their families’ lives. She now wants to do the same for Rockwall County, Precinct 4.
