Rockwall ISD Trustee Russ Childers seeks re-election

(ROCKWALL, TX – Jan. 10, 2018) Russ Childers has announced plans to run for a final term as the Place 2 candidate for the Rockwall ISD board of trustees. The upcoming election is to be held in May 2018.

“It has been a privilege and honor to serve the students and residents of this great district…As a parent of two RISD students and husband of a 1987 graduate (Alanna), it’s always been my belief that we have the best school district in Texas,” said Childers, who began serving in the office in 2007.

During Childers time on the board, there has been tremendous growth in student population and with that comes growing pains with staffing and facilities. “Since my time on the board we’ve had two bond elections, 2007 and 2015, and it’s vital that we maximize the hard-earned tax dollars of our constituents,” said Childers.

Childers and his wife Alanna moved back to Rockwall in 1999 to raise their family. They have two children, Abby who currently attends the University of Arkansas and Justin who will be graduating in June 2018 from RHS. Childers and his family attend Lake Pointe Church and he serves as member of the Rockwall Noon Rotary club, where he served as President in 2009-2010.
