APHE students Lance Cook, Alex Soto, and Matt Whitbeck.

(ROCKWALL, TX — February 16, 2018) Amy Parks-Heath Elementary sixth grade students worked collaboratively to design and construct a working marble roller coaster.  Once their roller coaster was completed, they then had to analyze it by finding the ride time, the length of the track and the speed at which the marble traveled through the roller coaster.

The most exciting part was not only the opportunity to share their knowledge of force and motion with the younger students by inviting them to a roller coaster park, but by giving all the students at APHE the opportunity to give back to the community.  The younger students paid entry to the roller coaster park by donating a canned food item.  The sixth graders were very excited because they were able to collect 466 canned food items, which will be donated to the Helping Hands food pantry.
