Rockwall’s Sean DelMonte and Rockwall-Heath’s Desmon Williams win State Championship in Wrestling

Rockwall High School Wrestling Student Wins State Championship

(ROCKWALL, TX – Feb. 28, 2018) Rockwall High School wrestling student Sean DelMonte recently won the Individual State Championship in the 220lb weight class after taking his opponent down to his back with less than 10 seconds left.

This is the first Individual State Champion for RHS since 2005.

Carson Lipsey and Jackie Mote captured 4th place in their respective weight classes, Kade McMahon, Steven Flowers and Chase Howerton finished in the top 8 and the boys team finished 5th overall.

Mia Arceneaux and Abednigo Sagomba also competed and won a match.

Rockwall-Heath Student Wins First Individual State Championship for School

History was made as Rockwall-Heath High School student Desmon Williams capped off a 31-0 undefeated season with a 6a state championship in the 285lb weight class of the UIL State Wrestling Championships.

Desmon is the first individual state champion for Rockwall-Heath High School.

Aidan Singleton earned all-state honors as well with a 6th place finish in the 220lb weight class.  Marcos Saenz, Paige Box, and Clarissa Archuleta each won matches in the state tournament, while Angie Archuleta and Alyssa Moreno also competed and wrestled well.

Heath Clinton and Ollie Hastings made the trip as alternates, with a 5th place finish at the regional tournament, but did not compete.
