Andrew Greenberg announces run for Rockwall City Council Place Six

(ROCKWALL, TX – March 9, 2018) Andrew Greenberg, educator, has announced his candidacy for City Council in the May 5th, 2018 Election.

Beginning his professional life as an educator, Greenberg’s passion has always been in serving others and working with individuals in the community to strengthen programs that help individuals become productive citizens.  As a teacher, he is constantly juggling the needs of a diverse student body and an incredible range of ideas and opinions, and he works daily to create a safe environment for his students so that they can enhance their quality of life and reach their individual goals.  He is excited to bring that same passion for service and mentorship to the Rockwall City Council.

“I teach government to high school students in Mesquite, Texas, and I stress the importance of getting involved with community and school activities in my class every day,” Greenberg says of why he decided to run.  “I decided to take the plunge and run in this race when I recognized that so many of our neighbors aren’t getting involved.  With less than eight percent of our population voting in city elections, I want to involve the citizens of Rockwall because I believe that your vote is your individual opportunity to make change, whether it is keeping the propositions and people in place that work or putting new ideas and people in place to better the outcomes.”

Greenberg wants to implement town-hall style meetings throughout the city, year round, in a format that will allow for the citizens to have their voices and concerns heard in a more inviting open floor atmosphere than the Monday night city council meetings.  “With the growing social media platforms, there is no reason we can’t have concise, clear-cut information presented so that everyone knows what’s going on in their city.  That is the job of an elected representative after all.”

When not teaching, Greenberg leads a Life Group class at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall for adults with small children, and works with a few colleagues to create engaging video content encouraged to get people involved with what’s going on in their city, state, and country.

“Rockwall has a lot going on and a lot to offer its citizens, and that’s a great thing,” says Greenberg.  “But I want to make sure we are following through with our promises, working toward intelligent growth, and keeping Rockwall the growing city with the small town feel we love.  I’ll bring to the council a long-term mindset to ensure a bright future for Rockwall for years to come.”
