Spinnaker Wine and Art Bar to host First Wine and Art Party on March 23

Local artists Karen Perry, Betty Hoaglund, James Kuntz, Nancy Kuntz and Kenyon Walters will have their works on display at the new Spinnaker Wine and Art Bar, opening in March at The Landing at Chandler’s.

(ROCKWALL, TX — March 5, 2018) The Landing at Chandler’s and the Rockwall Art League are partnering up to bring a one-of-a-kind wine and art bar to the Rockwall community.

The Spinnaker Wine and Art Bar will hold its First Wine and Art Party on Friday, March 23 at 7 p.m. The wine and art bar will offer exquisite wines and a display of gorgeous works of art from local area artists. Paintings from Karen Perry, Betty Hoaglund, James and Nancy Kuntz, and Kenyon Walters will line the walls of the intimate bar setting on the second floor of The Landing, along with the works of acclaimed photographers Richard Hoaglund and Bob Chilton. Guests will also enjoy live music and a menu featuring high end appetizers, cheeseboards and small plate selections.

“Betty and the Art Committee have helped us out a lot in making this possible,” said The Landing’s Event Director Melissa Kantorowski. “It just made sense – art and wine together. It’s something different that’s unique in Rockwall.”

The wines served at the bar won’t be your run-of-the-mill brands. According to Kantorowski, folks can expect a variety of exclusive upscale wine selections.

“It’s more about the wine up here. You’re tasting wine that you might not be able to get anywhere else in the area,” Kantorowski said. “Our bar manager is very knowledgeable about wines, and he’s curating us some obscure and high-end wines to go along with the menu.”

The wine and art bar will hold its opening in March and will feature artwork of local artists and a menu offering an array of exclusive wines and upscale small-plate food selections.

Rockwall expressionist artist Betty Hoaglund said the venue will offer the perfect setting for social events like date nights and girls nights, wine pairings and dinners, and “Painting Outside the Wines” events where people can paint on wine glasses.

“The room will be an oasis of different art on a rotating basis,” Hoaglund said. “What better combination than wine, art, food, music and a lakeshore facility!”

The wine and art bar grand opening event will be a reunion of sorts for Hoaglund and many of the exhibiting artists, who used to work together at the former Uptown Downtown Art Gallery in downtown Rockwall. Hoaglund, a resident of Chandler’s Landing, said she couldn’t be happier having such a unique place in Rockwall combining art and wine in a picturesque lakeside venue.

“I am very excited with this venue,” Hoaglund said. “The Landing has the prettiest setting in Rockwall and now it’s promoting an artistic vibe. As an artist and a resident, I am beyond thrilled.”

The Landing’s Service Director Jessie Ferdin said he’s excited about the prospect of providing a place for artists, art lovers and wine connoisseurs of the community to come together.

“There’s so many people in this community that have a wide variety of tastes, and the wine and art bar will help bring a lot of people together who aren’t always intertwined,” Ferdin said.

The Spinnaker Wine and Art Bar will also be available for private events. To book an event contact Melissa Kantorowski at melissak@chandlerslanding.org or call 469-769-1148.

On April 7, The Landing will host a Rockwall Art League Member Show inside its gorgeous ballroom from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Many award-winning area artists will exhibit their works including paintings, sculptures, glass designs, hand-painted silks, and jewelry. Attendees can also enjoy live painting and a cash bar. The show will be open to all members of the Rockwall Art League.

About the Rockwall Art League

The Rockwall Art League was established in 2000. The purpose was to create a forum for area artists to share ideas, communicate, and support each other, bring an awareness of fine art to the community and provide scholarships to support the efforts of talented high school students. These goals are being realized through annual exhibits, programs, studio tours, the Tom Collins Memorial Scholarship, the ArtReach Program, and cooperation with the American Society of Marine Artists to promote the Young Marine Artists Search in the North Texas region.

The RAL is a volunteer organization that began with a few individuals dedicated to the visual arts. Its founding members recognized the importance that art plays on the strength and beauty of a community. With that idea in mind, the founders crafted RAL’s mission which is to create and support art related exhibitions, educational events, and art appreciation in the Rockwall area. RAL is consistently dedicated to furthering artistic appreciation and encouraging artist growth and its members and the community at large.

The Rockwall Art League is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization, and is supported in part by grants from the City of Rockwall Hotel and Motel Tax.  All contributions are tax-deductible.
