(ROCKWALL, TX – March 6, 2018) The Rockwall-Heath High School and Rockwall High School Intro to Culinary Arts students recently demonstrated four healthy snacks to Rockwall ISD elementary students. The snacks had to meet specific nutrition requirements – be kid friendly, include apricot or jicama, and be themed around the State Fair of Texas.

The winning recipes were the State Fair Fruit Dog created by Morgan Pewick and Brooke Schwabb, and the Big Tex Mex Taco created by Ian Miller, Grace Oduro, Kiara Cruz-Rivera and Jeryn Shanks.

These recipes will be featured in the Medical City Children’s Hospital Healthy Snack Cookbook, which will be distributed to every elementary student in Rockwall ISD in the fall of 2018.

Our monthly print edition is delivered free to ~20,000 homes in Rockwall and Heath, TX.
